Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas, popularly referred to by the name Ashanti was born on October 13, 1980 in Glen Cove New York United States. She is an American singer-songwriter and actress. Ashanti gained fame as an teen. In 2002, she signed with Murder Inc. Records. Ashanti appeared the same day in the Fat Joe's What's Luv? track and Ja Rule's Always On Time track both of which became massive hits. Her songs Foolish (number number one) and What's Luv!
